SUSTAINABILITY
"Our very being, health and happiness depend on Mother Earth"
At SurfPoint Resort, we understand a Wardandi Elder-taught philosophy of giving back to nature: this deeply held philosophy shapes every aspect of how the resort operates: the obligation to give back to nature, to notice and honour every living thing — the insects, spiders, moths, birds, lizards, and possums that share this place — and to ensure that guests are aware they are staying in a living ecosystem, not merely a commercial facility.
This teaching has translated directly into practice. No poisons or harmful chemicals have any place in SurfPoint’s operations. Pest management is handled organically. Guest amenities are organic. The resort’s cleaning philosophy, its garden management, and its guest communication all flow from this single, Elder-taught principle: that we are not separate from nature, and that a business built on a beautiful place has a responsibility to protect every part of it.

In 2025 our parent company Cape to Cape Explorer Tours won the Margaret River Business Network Award for Access and Inclusion, incorporating work we collaborate on to ensure our team, guests and suppliers feel included, seen and celebrated for their diversity.

In 2026 we were nominated for the Skål International Sustainable Tourism Award — a global recognition of businesses leading the way in sustainable hospitality. You can see aspects of our submission in the video.
Come and experience sustainability you can see, touch, and be inspired by.

ORGANIC FROM THE GROUND UP
Every cleaning product we use is certified natural and chemical-free (Koala Eco).
Our guest amenities are organic, aromatic and Australian made.
Our food waste is managed on-site and turned into garden compost.
Our chickens produce eggs shared with staff, guests and our local community.
Our native garden has beengrown from 200+ tube stock planted every year since 2021, is now home to birds, bees and pollinators, and attracted over 140 local visitors during Nature Conservation Margaret River's Open Gardens weekend.
Zero food waste to landfill. Significant reduction to single-use plastics. Locally managed.
OCEAN & COMMUNITY
The ocean is a reminder of our responsibility; its beauty and life depend on our commitment to protect and preserve it for future generations.
Our team gets in the water and on the ground — participating in Tangaroa Blue beach clean-ups, pruning the Cape to Cape Track, and attending Nature Conservation Margaret River planting days.
Native pruning from the resort is used for dune reparations by local community groups.

We display artwork made from microplastics collected from our local beaches as a reminder that even the most beautiful coastlines need protecting.

PARTNERING WITH OUR COMMUNITY
Our team gets in the water and on the ground — participating in Tangaroa Blue beach clean-ups, pruning the Cape to Cape Track, and attending Nature Conservation Margaret River planting days.
We display artwork made from microplastics collected from our local beaches as a reminder that even the most beautiful coastlines need protecting.
We donate our Containers for Change proceeds to Nature Conservation Margaret River. We support local not-for-profit groups as well as mental health advocates Barbarians Group and Happiness Co.
We provide in-kind donations to organisations such as Kaarakin Black Cockatoo Conservation Centre, whose work with endangered species is close to our heart.
